A little backstory related to this song which she shared during a live concert:
2015 December she had holidays. She was waiting tables in some restaurant in New York. There she had a colleague (a guy) who happened to be Nepali as well. They were doing 12 hrs – 14 hrs shift. That guy was barely 19 years old and she was 24 years old then. She had a sense of being a very old lady by the age of 24 as most people do, but later realized in mid 20’s no one is really old enough, theres much more to learn & experience in life.
The guy mentioned earlier, had a big crush on her, and decided he is in love with Bartika . She was going through a phase where she thought she had no emotions like everyone around her. That 19 year old guy was so ready to accept it. She was thrown back. He never missed a chance to compliment her with cheesy things like – “Your eyes are so pretty” and all that.
Najeek was written by her based on that moment of her life. After that incident, she came to the realization, how people as they grow old, filters out emotions, defense mechanisms grow wierd. She learned this thing from that guy and he doesn’t know it.
